Vietnam Introduces Pre-Arrival Declaration at Tan Son Nhat Airport from 15 April 2026
From 15 April 2026, Vietnam will apply a new pre-arrival information declaration requirement for passengers entering Vietnam through Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City.
The new requirement is part of Vietnam’s effort to modernize immigration management, reduce processing time at border control, and improve the arrival experience for international passengers.
Who needs to complete the declaration?
The pre-arrival declaration applies to:
- Foreign passport holders entering Vietnam through Tan Son Nhat International Airport
- Overseas Vietnamese entering Vietnam with a valid visa
It does not apply to:
- Vietnamese citizens using a Vietnamese passport
- Transit passengers who remain in the international transit area and do not pass through immigration
What passengers need to do
Before arriving at immigration, eligible passengers must complete their personal and travel information through the official pre-arrival declaration system. After submission, the system will issue a QR code, which must be saved and presented to immigration officers upon arrival.
The declaration can be completed online via the official portal: https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn/
Why passengers should complete it before departure
Passengers are advised to complete the declaration before their flight to Vietnam. Failure to complete the declaration in advance may result in longer processing time at the immigration counter, especially during peak arrival hours.
All information submitted must be accurate, truthful, and complete. Passengers should save a copy of the QR code on their phone or print it out before travelling.
Important note
Airlines, travel agencies, and related service providers are encouraged to inform passengers of this requirement before departure. Passengers entering Vietnam through Tan Son Nhat International Airport should complete the declaration early to help a faster and smoother arrival process.
